Local transportation

getting around by bus in dubai

Local buses

Public transport is well-manged in Dubai. The RTA runs local buses in the city. The fleet of buses stops at all famous places of interest. The comfortable, hassle-free card tickets make it an easy option of getting around.

Taxi

All cabs running through all the city are under the fleet of The Dubai Transport Corporation (DTC). There is a call center can be caught on the stop stations around. Minivans and luxury vehicles are also easy to arrange. The separate service is from and to the airport route.

Car rental

Rental cars are a trendy option of getting around. Vehicles of all standards and sizes are offered from a few car rental companies. There are not exclusive license needed to drive yourself. The international driving license is honored. Fast car enthusiasts can rent a luxury vehicle and drive on high speed among desert sceneries on quality highways.

Metro

Dubai Metro, run by the RTA, meets the everyday transportation needs of many citizens. Please note it might be extremely crowded during peak hours. If you are a tourist, you can get a special pass to a dedicated compartment where is less crowdy and more comfortable (but also most expensive, obviously).

Train

Without a proper railway system in Dubai, there is only 14,5 km of a tramway in Dubai connecting the marina with the metro. The tram is also connected to the monorail in Dubai which runs to the artificial island of Palm Jumeirah

Trekking

If you like trekking, Dubai might not be the best choice. Summer is scorching, and high temperatures and direct sun are dangerous for a pedestrian. Evenings and nights are more friendly. For walking during the daytime come to Dubai during winter.
