History Of Dubai
The earliest written records about Dubai are found in the Book of Geography by Abu Abdullah Al Bakri – about the visit of the Venetian merchant Gaspero Balbi in 1580. At first, Dubai was a small fisherman village, inhabited by the Baniya Tribe ruled by the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi. Far after the crisis in the 1930s, the emirate started to play a role in international trading after it was triggered by discovering oil deposits off the coast. Nowadays, the city is the financial and trading hub for global businesses.
